One of the most difficult decisions a pet owner can face is when their beloved pet has been diagnosed with a terminal disease, has had a serious injury, or has lived a full life. Pet Hospice allows your pet, under the direction of a veterinarian, to live out their remaining days at home with as much dignity and comfort as possible. This involves at-home nursing care, pain management, and bereavement planning.
Hospice consultations can be arranged in your home or at our end-of-life clinic.
When you decide it's time for your pet, we can come to your home or you can bring them into our end of life clinic. We always give the pet and the family time to adjust the the veterinarian being in the room, and we always give the opportunity to answer any remaining questions. A sedative is given to the pet, which will take them into a comfortable and deep sleep. When the family is ready, the final medication is given.
Whether or not your pet needed additional help in passing, most pet owners wish to have the remains of their pet returned to their home or scattered in their honor. Graceful Departure offers families an environmentally friendly, gentle, and more humane alternative to flame based cremation.
